Online Webinar – Presented by Peter Johnson

AML in Practice: More Questions. More Grey Areas. Clearer Answers Webinar

12-1 PM AEDT, Wednesday, 9 December 2026

1 Hour of CPD

This follow-up AML session is designed for accountants who have now had several months to apply the regime in practice and are finding that the real difficulty lies in the grey areas.

Rather than revisiting the basics, Peter Johnson will work through the questions firms are still asking about designated services, CDD, ASIC-related work, restructures, trusts, existing clients, screening results and documentation.

The focus will be on practical application to real client files, including where the answer is clear, where it is genuinely arguable, and what should be recorded on file when there is no simple black-and-white position.

What we’ll discuss

  • Which accounting activities are actually designated services, and where the grey areas still sit
  • When customer due diligence is required, and when it isn’t
  • How AML applies to existing clients versus new clients
  • ASIC agent work, including company changes, registered office services and other common lodgements
  • Company, trust and SMSF establishments, and who the “customer” actually is
  • Restructuring work and how far an accountant can go before AML obligations are triggered
  • Practical examples of how Peter would approach real client files
  • What firms should be reviewing now to make sure their AML processes are actually working in practice
  • Your questions answered live — send us the AML issue your firm is currently dealing with and we’ll work as many as possible into the session
  • And much more…
